Richmond’s Christmas Market takes place this year on Sunday 2nd December between 10am and 4pm.
Tuesday - November 20, 2018
This year’s Market will be even bigger and better than last year – a great place to do some Christmas shopping. The whole of the Market Place will be pedestrianised, allowing visitors to walk freely around the many market stalls - even more than last year - and browse the interesting local shops.
The WAGS choir, military bands, dance groups and the Richmond Operatics Society will be performing on the stage outside Mocha Chocolate Shop. The army are bringing ‘loads of big stuff’ for kids and dads to play with! Other entertainment at the Christmas Market includes regular visitors Punch and Judy and the traditional swing boat ride. The market is also supported by the police and fire services.
In the Town Hall, The Chic Boutique will be displaying a fabulous mix of high quality handmade & unique gifts with a dash of vintage. This is a wonderful place to find those unusual Christmas presents. Santa is taking up residence in the Mayor’s Parlour giving out gifts and taking requests for Christmas.
New this year, the 12 Trees of Christmas Trail! Local businesses have sponsored and decorated the trees, which will be displayed around the Market Place on the day of the Christmas Market. Just go to the information point and pick up your trail sheet and voting form to nominate your favourite tree. Also new for 2018 are Christmas demonstrations in the Fleece Hotel on Victoria Road. Please keep an eye on Facebook and the website for further details.
If you are coming by car, Park and Ride will be operating from Richmond School on Darlington Road with volunteer bus driver, Stuart, driving the Little White bus to and from the town centre throughout the day.
All car parks in Richmond are free for the day and there is mobility parking available in these car parks. Please remember, there is no parking in the Market Place. The usual Market Place bus stops will be moved to Friary Gardens and the taxi rank will be outside Heron Foods at the bottom of the Market Place. To avoid the queues, additional loos are being provided this year in the town centre.
