Children Get Crafty For Panto
Thursday - November 29, 2018
Children around the region have been showing off their artistic talents in celebration of this year’s pantomime at Richmond’s Georgian Theatre Royal - Sleeping Beauty.

Dozens of scary dragons, majestic crowns and trusty shields have been carefully created as part of a competition run by the Theatre with entries from children as young as three in four different categories.

“We have been amazed by the large number of fantastic creations that have poured into the Theatre over the past few weeks,” said the pantomime’s writer and producer, Clare Allen. “It was incredibly hard to pick winners from such an array of dazzling entries and we would like to offer our thanks and congratulations to all those who took part.

“Richmond’s pantomime is a big community event and we love to involve everyone – both young and old – whether as a member of the audience or by taking part in our many panto-related activities from knitting to paper mâché and junk modelling,” she added.

The winner of the category for entries from children aged 6 and under was Lucas Williams (age 6) with Mollie Kirby (age 4) as runner-up; the winner of the category for entries from children aged 7 and over was Lainey Newbery (age 9) with Theo Eaton (age 7) as runner-up; the winner of the best coloured-in picture or 2-D artwork was Ffion Roberts (age 6) with Sam Brice (age 5) as runner-up. The Director’s Prize for the most imaginative entry was won by Evie Richardson (age 7).

The artwork will be displayed in the Theatre during the run of the pantomime, which is on from Friday 7 December 2018 until Sunday 13 January 2019. Tickets are priced from £9 and are available from the Box Office on 01748 825252 or via the online booking.
