Tuesday - April 30, 2019
An invitation to a Public Meeting to hear plans for Richmond’s Big Anniversary in 2021

In 2021 Richmond and its castle will officially be 950 years old. To commemorate this momentous year the Original Richmond Business and Tourism Association (ORBTA) is working with Richmond Castle and Richmond Town Council on a year of celebrations.

Local business people, representatives of Richmond organisations and members of the public who would like to find out more about the plans for Celebrate Richmond 950 are invited to come along to a meeting to hear how Richmond will celebrate and to put forward their own ideas for this exciting year.

The Town Council and ORBTA are hosting the meeting in Richmond Town Hall on Friday 10th May. Jonathan Preece The Mayor of Richmond, Carol Watson, who initiated the idea to celebrate the 950th, Marcia McLuckie and Phil Upton Chair and Membership secretary of ORBTA, will speak about how they are taking the plans forward to recognise this milestone year.

Carol said, “This will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the building of Richmond Castle and the development of the very first settlement of Richmond. With events taking place throughout the year, we will honour many of the ages of the town from pre-Norman to present day and celebrate all that makes Richmond a lovely place to live in and visit”.

The group very much hope that anyone interested in the plan to celebrate Richmond 950 will join them on Friday 10th May, 7.30pm at Richmond Town Hall, Market Place, Richmond.

For further information, please email Marcia McLuckie, Chair of the Original Richmond Business and Tourism Association at or phone 01748 825525.
