Richmond's annual garden competition is back, with residents and business owners being encouraged to put forward their planting prowess to be in with the chance of winning prizes.

"I entered the competition for the first time last year, and was amazed to win," says Amanda Bramley, pictured. "I love my garden, and I'd encourage anyone who enjoys gardening to think about putting in an entry - with garden vouchers to win, why not give it a go?"

There's four categories: small, medium, large and pub/commercial. The deadline for entries is 17 July and judging takes place on 26 July.

The town's allotment holders will also have their efforts assessed, with visits to the various plots taking place over three days, on the 19,20 and 21 July.

The garden and allotment competitions are run by Richmond Town Council.
