Sandra Parker is a self-taught artist working with oil. This is her fifth exhibition at The Station.
Sandra was born into a Dales farming family so her inner affection for her chosen subject comes as no surprise, capturing the essence of the hardy Swaledale sheep in their natural environment seemed the obvious choice.
Finding inspiration from the varied elements of the Swaledale sheep - from the geometrical curve and swirl of the horns the random depth of the fleece to the defiant twinkle in their eyes Sandra sees in them a hardy time worn experience nurtured by a lifetime on the fells. Theirs is a deep-rooted grit which they show with such sure-footed grace.
