There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

And coming up is Richmond MayFest - the town's annual celebration of spring with loads of music, dance and family fun going on all over the town. This year it is all happening on May 2nd-May 4th, with the May Fair at Richmond Castle, concerts, ceilidh, Folk Fest, Baroque Fest, Day of Dance and much much more. Events and activities throughout Richmond in support of Armed Forces Day.

This is the first-ever co-ordinated day to mark this national event in Richmond.

A people's parade starting from the Town Hall at 10.30am will walk to Friary Gardens led by Newton Aycliffe Pipes and Drums.

Plans for the event include a charity village in Friary Gardens, vintage vehicles, military choirs, cinema screenings, steam engine rides, displays, FREE entry for serving personnel and their families at Richmond Castle, The Green Howards Museum and Richmondshire Museum, plus activities at The Station. There will also be a children's trail round all the event locations in the town.

Confirmed groups include: E50K project, The Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Clubs, The Vintage Vocalist, Newton Aycliffe Pipes and Drums, The Service Children's Choir, RAF Leeming Military Wives Choir, The North East Legion, The Royal Air Force Association, The Army Benevolent Fund, Help for Heroes.
