Saint Francis Xavier School will present Lionel Bart’s Oliver! The show will run from Tuesday 15th – Thursday 17th July at 7pm in the school hall.

Oliver! follows the story of orphaned child Oliver Twist who escapes his humdrum existence in the workhouse for a life of luxury in London. Based on the famous novel by Charles Dickens, the show features classic musical songs including Consider Yourself, I’d Do Anything and Oom Pah Pah.

The production includes a school cast of over 60 pupils aged between 11-16. Oliver is played by Y7 pupil Edward.

Year 11 Drama pupil Aaron is taking on the role of Fagin before he embarks on his further studies at the The Northern School of Art.

Nancy is played by Y9 pupil Sophia and Bill Sikes is played by Y10 pupil Kobe.

The show is directed by Miss Smith, Curriculum Lead for Performing Arts. It has been choreographed by Dance teacher Mrs Knight with Musical Direction from Mr Bearpark. Miss Smith said: ‘Working with the pupils on Oliver! has been a brilliant experience. The pupils have devoted time to bring the famous musical numbers to life and they are performing with great characterisation and enthusiasm. We are really proud of their efforts.’

Tickets are available to purchase at www.ticketsource.co.uk/saint-francis-xavier-school.

Tickets: £8 for adults and £5 for children and pupils.
