Sicily 80: the landings as learning curve

Venue: The Green Howards Museum

Marking the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Sicily, this Museum Talk explores the timeline of events which paved the way towards D Day a year later.

Soldiers from The Green Howards were part of the landings, then the advance north up the boot of mainland Italy. They would also be amongst the first to set foot of French soil in Normandy in 1944.

Museum researcher, Steve Erskine takes us through the events of 1943 at what promises to be a fascinating Museum Talk in this special anniversary year.

Steve will give another Museum Talk - exploring the battlefields of Sicily, following his return from the island's official commemorations in July.
