What's On

There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a monstrous insect.

Following Gregor’s shocking metamorphosis, he finally learns what makes him human. But is it too late? As his mind adapts to his new life, Gregor grows ever more distant, struggling to retain his humanity.

Kafka's story of a misfit trying to adapt to his busy world is as relevant in today’s world as it ever was. This new adaptation explores the many aspects of modern life which isolate us, and the parts of being human which bring us closer together.
