A Midsummer Night's Dream

Venue: The Georgian Theatre Royal

The course of true love never did run smooth.

Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society (RADS) present Shakespeare’s magical comedy masterpiece – a story of order and disorder, reality and appearance, and love and marriage.

Translocated to 20th century Richmondshire, four young lovers run away only to have fairy Puck make both of the boys fall in love with the same girl. They pursue each other through the forest while Puck helps his master Oberon play a trick on the fairy queen, Titania.

Meanwhile, the ‘rude mechanicals’, a group of amateur and mostly incompetent actors, are rehearsing - hoping their production is chosen as the courtly entertainment for the noble wedding celebrations.

Will the couples reconcile and marry? Will Titania remain ‘enamour’d of an ass’? Come and join in the jollity!
