Free tours of Easby Abbey

The peaceful ruins of Easby Abbey (founded in 1152), just outside Richmond, are undoubtedly one of the town's crown jewels and a must-see for visitors. 

Entry to the English Heritage site is free, and there is a free guided tour every Sunday. The tour is at 2 pm, it leaves from the entrance gate, and lasts about 45 minutes.

Located by the side of the river, the Abbey can be reached via a short gentle walk along the old railway line that runs from the Station. This can be turned into a longer circular route,  returning on the other side of the river, with a total distance of around 2 1/2 miles. For more detail of the route you can pick up a copy of Richmond Walks (£2) either at Richmond Information Centre, The Green Howards Museum or The Shop at The Station. This book is also part of a bundle of three walking books (£6) available to purchase online.

There is plenty of parking at the Station and limited parking at Easby itself.
