Garden enthusiasts and visitors alike are invited to enjoy the stunning grounds of The Manor House in Skeeby on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 September 2025, when the garden will be open to the public in support of two much-loved charities: Richmondshire Museum and Martin House Children’s Hospice.

The 1½-acre garden is sheltered by walls and hedges and features a wide variety of spaces to explore, including a courtyard, herbaceous and mixed borders, a terraced shrub rose garden, ornamental trees, and a conservatory. Visitors can also discover ‘The Dell’, a quarry garden with pond and perennials, which leads to ‘The Glade’ and ‘The Valley’ – once a sunken track for stone leading. With newly planted trees, shrubs, and soft fruit areas, the gardens are a true delight for plant lovers.

Entry is by donation (from £5), with all proceeds going to Richmondshire Museum – a local treasure trove of history and culture featuring the original vet’s surgery set from All Creatures Great and Small – and Martin House Children’s Hospice, which provides vital care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families across Yorkshire.

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy tea, coffee, cakes, a plant stall, and a tombola, all available for a donation. Opening times are 11am to 5pm on both days.

Please note that the garden includes steps, slopes and uneven ground, so wheelchair access is limited but can be accommodated by prior arrangement. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead and are not permitted in the shed where cakes are being served.
