Announcing Summer on the Swale - the first instalment of an exciting new initiative fully funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority. It brings a series of events to the town under the banner of Richmond Presents, celebrating everything that makes Richmond such a special place to live and visit.

Kicking off the summer of events is a free outdoor cinema on the banks of the River Swale, proudly hosted by The Station. The outdoor
cinema will take place across three evenings, Friday 14, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August. Audiences can bring a blanket or camping chair, settle in beside the river and enjoy a much-loved film under the summer sky. The line-up is:

• Friday – Mamma Mia
• Saturday – Jurassic Park
• Sunday – The Greatest Showman

Doors open each evening at 4:00pm, with films starting at 5:00pm. Pizzas, refreshments, popcorn and sweets will be available to buy from The Station throughout.

Tickets are completely free but must be booked in advance. Numbers are limited to 200 per evening, so it really is first come, first served. Book online through the Station Cinema box office.

Summer on the Swale is just the beginning, with more events to be announced under the Richmond Presents banner over the coming weeks. David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, who is supporting this new initiative said: “What better backdrop for a free night at the cinema than the beautiful River Swale. At the heart of my High Street Fund is backing local ideas that bring people together. This is as great example and one that people can really look forward to.”

Gemma Lord, CEO of Richmondshire Building Preservation Trust (RBPT), added: “We are proud to host the very first ‘Richmond Presents’ event here at The Station. There';s something magical about watching a great film outdoors beside the River Swale, and to be able to offer it for free, thanks to the Mayor's funding makes it all the more special.
