The Richmondshire Landscape Trust is a land charity which owns and manages a number of open spaces around Richmond for the benefit and enjoyment of the community. It was originally known by many as ROSA – Richmondshire Open Spaces Appeal – which was the Trust’s fundraising arm.

Amongst the land in its care is:

• Westfields. This is the last of the three original medieval open pastures in Richmond (Gallowfields and Eastfields being the other two).It is a very popular place for walkers and adjoins the popular Coast to Coast long distance walking route as it approaches Richmond from the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is also a popular sledging site in the winter
• The Nine Acre Field (OS9100)  - a beautiful wild flower meadow between Westfields and Reeth Road
• Jack King's Wood - this wood is located at the western end of Westfields
• South Bank.  These extensive meadows lie on the south side of the Swale near the Station Bridge
• Sleegill - the land near to Earl's Orchard
   

The Trust was formed in 2004 when a large fund raising campaign was set up to buy some key open spaces from Richmondshire District Council. Since then, the Trust has maintained and enhanced the landscape - rebuilt stone walls, planted hedgerows, and propagated wild flower meadows.
