he Church of St James the Great dates from 1135, and is the community hub for the village of Melsonby, near Richmond.

Fund-raising over the last few years has enabled works to begin to install six new bells, in addition to the refurbishment of the older set, one of which dates from 1370.

Local residents, professional soprano Sally-Ann Shepherdson, and her husband, opera conductor and pianist Peter Robinson, will be joined by their baritone colleague from London, Trevor Alexander, for a light-hearted evening of opera and classical favourites and plenty of songs from the shows.

Drinks and refreshments will be available.

Please contact us by email at sas@sally-annshepherdson.co.uk to be informed when tickets go on sale.

Programme to include arias and duets from: Verdi's La Traviata, Bizet's Carmen, Mozart's Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro, Puccini's La Bohème, Lehar's The Merry Widow, and musical gems from My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Oklahoma!, Kismet, The Sound of Music, Kiss Me Kate, Gigi, Phantom of the Opera and many more.
