A talk about the effects of glaciation in Swaledale and Wensleydale on the landscape around us today.

In the last glaciation Swaledale and Wensleydale shared a glacier which was isolated from the main ice sheets in the North of England. The landscape of the two dales was especially shaped in the period when the ice started to melt, and rapid erosion shaped the valleys and led to some of the remarkable features around us today.
