What's On

There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

In his exhibition Drawn to the Wild, artist Paul Gibson presents a collection of coloured pencil drawings that celebrate the beauty and character of wildlife. Each piece reflects his deep fascination with the natural world and his ability to capture its quiet intensity from delicate layers of colour and texture to effective striking monochrome pieces.

Working with precision and detail Paul uses coloured pencil to explore the subtleties of light and emotion that define each subject, his drawings reveal more than a sense of prescence, inviting viewers to pause and connect connect with the life behind each gaze.

Drawn to the Wild is both a celebration and reflection, a celebration of the grace and diversity of the wildlife that shares our world and a reflection of their character, instinct and quiet dignity.
