What's On

There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

This Richmond Station Platform exhibition is of contemporary prints created by the community-based The Arts Collective Print Group, revealing the creative output of supportive fellows.

The Group was formed in 2019 and its members are the users of the Friday Rural Arts Open Studios in Thirsk. In the Studio there are two professional Printing Presses supplied by Rural Arts, the Collective pays for all the equipment, tools, inks, that they use.

The Print Open Studio is a very inspiring place and so beneficial to have the opportunity to experiment with the various methods of printing. Focussing on handmade print methods, Lino printing, Collagraphs, Mono printing & Intaglio, you can see from the range of work on display each member has their own style.

The community numbers 21 and there can be ten printers in the Studio on the day, working on their own ideas.

The creative support from the other members is invaluable, it offers opportunities to develop skills and allows you, with input from the group, to work out how to make your ideas happen in print while exploring texture, pattern, design & colour.

The Exhibition showcases the accomplishments of these emerging Artists and will hopefully inspire visitors.
