Richmond is set for a magical festive treat as Cinderella opens at The Georgian Theatre Royal, running until Saturday 10 January 2026.

The town’s much-loved pantomime promises audiences of all ages a sparkling adventure, with laughter, toe-tapping songs and a dash of mayhem. This year’s production is written by Jo and Jake Mawhinney, whose 2024 hit Treasure Island was nominated for Best Script at the UK Pantomime Awards, and directed by Jo Mawhinney.

Audiences will enjoy a talented professional cast bringing the story to life. Lucy Booton, a Richmond-raised actor with professional stage experience, stars as Cinderella. She is joined by Jack McGarry as Prince Charming, Dan Cockett as the Wicked Stepmother, Matthew Fordy as Buttons, and Sally Ann Staunton as the Fairy Godmother. Joshua Payne and Aidan MacFarlane take on the roles of the Ugly Sisters, with Aidan also performing live on the drums and Joshua as Musical Director. The professional cast is joined by the theatre’s Young Company of 18 local performers, adding extra sparkle to every show.

As ever, the Georgian’s pantomime is packed with local touches and festive surprises. Look out for the knitted stars, the much-loved Tunnock’s Teacakes, and cheeky nods to Richmond and its surroundings throughout the performance.

Cinderella is expected to be as popular as last year’s record-breaking Treasure Island, which sold out very early, so Richmond audiences are being advised to book tickets now to avoid missing out on the festive magic.

Tickets are available from the Georgian Theatre Royal Box Office – Tel: 01748 825252 or online at www.georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk
