North Yorkshire Car Park Changes

And Yes, it seems the changes may make life easier

Paying for Council-owned car parks should be simpler now.

Previously, coinless payment meant downloading an app called RingGo. Predictably, this wasn't popular. But now the Council is installing new, easier-to-use payment machines. This is how they work:

  1. Park
  2. Go to the machine and type in your vehicle's registration number
  3. Enter the number of hours you want to stay.
  4. Pay contactlessly by card or phone, or use good old-fashioned coins.

And that's it. No app is needed. No physical ticket is issued, because a warden or a camera can still detect an overstay.

The new machines are being installed progressively, so you may not yet find them everywhere, and some of the installations may have slightly different features. We believe that all the car parks in Richmond have now been converted. Do let us know if you find otherwise: just email info@richmond.org.

These changes mean that our Car Parking leaflet (available free from Richmond Information Centre, or as a downloadable pdf here) is now a little out of date. We'll fix it at the next reprint.

Prices have not changed. Hurrah!
