Discover Richmond’s History with Free Guided Walks

Explore the rich history and stunning scenery of Richmond, with a free guided town walk. Knowledgeable volunteer guides will lead you through the cobbled streets, narrow alleys, and breathtaking viewpoints of our historic market town, sharing fascinating stories along the way.

When and Where
The guided walks are circular and depart from the Market Hall at 11:00 every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Each walk lasts approximately 75 minutes and is limited to a maximum of 10 people per group.

Booking Information
While there is no charge for the walks, although donations are welcome to help support the volunteer-run Richmond Information Centre or benefit the Richmondshire Museum.

Advance booking is essential, especially during the winter months when walks will only take place if booked by 15:00 the day before. Please note that no 'walk-ins' will be accepted. To reserve your place, you can:

  • Visit Richmond Information Centre in the Market Hall (open 10:00–16:00)

  • Call 01748 826468 (same hours as above)

  • Email walks@richmondinfo.net, stating your preferred date and number of places required

Before You Start
On the day of your walk, please check in a few minutes before departure at the Richmond Information Centre pod in the Market Hall to confirm your place.
