Local author publishes debut novel set in Richmond

Local author Franco Renrow has just released his first novel, Past Glory, a captivating story set in the heart of the historic town.

The novel, set in present-day Richmond, begins with a surprising discovery in a local second-hand bookshop, which leads readers on an exhilarating treasure hunt across the town and its surrounding areas.

Renrow’s debut work blends history with fiction, as he draws on real-life historical events and legends, embellishing them to create a gripping narrative. The story delves into the transformation of Richmond during the 16th and 17th centuries, offering readers a glimpse into a richly imagined medieval town that predates the Georgian architecture for which Richmond is now renowned.

To celebrate the publication, Franco Renrow will be hosting a special book launch at the George and Dragon in Hudswell on October 9 at 6:30 pm. During the event, he will discuss the themes of Past Glory, the historical inspiration behind the book, and how he creatively weaved the town’s past into his fictional treasure hunt.

Past Glory is available for purchase at Castle Hill Bookshop in Richmond.
