There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

Starting at the car park to the old Richmond Race course on Hurgill Road. We will pass the old race course grandstand before heading out of the race course. This is a circular walk taking in Beacon Plantation where you can see the old beacon and trig pillar. Returning from the beacon we head down to Whitcliffe Farm then a steady climb up to Aislabeck before heading back to the race course car park.

There is an option to head into Richmond to get some refreshments.

You will need walking shoes/boots1ltr+ of water, snacks, waterproof jacket and trousers. Any personal first aid kit, Inhaler etc Suncream Insect repelent, 15-20-30ltr backpack. This is a dog friendly walk, however you must keep your pooch under control at all times due to livestock in fields we may cross. This is a Lottery Funded Event and led by a qualified Mountain Leader and first aid trained. Any questions please get in touch. Led by Mountain Leader Nick Rowe.
