What's On

There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

Set in the heart of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, where rugged cliffs meet the North Sea, the Saltburn Smugglers bring the town’s smuggling past thrillingly to life.

This modern shanty group transforms tales of daring 18th-century smugglers into vibrant, contemporary sea shanties, blending history with energetic rhythms. Their performances are interactive journeys through time, connecting the past’s adventurous escapades with today’s spirited music.

Formed in 2022, the Smugglers have wowed audiences across the region with sold-out theatre shows, promenade performances and features on BBC TV and radio. Expect to sing, cheer, and let the music carry you on a journey across time and tide!
