Ten years ago, BBC Four screened a fabulous film called 'All Aboard! The Country Bus' - an unbroken, narrative-free, two-hour journey from the industrial North-East via Richmond, up Swaledale, across to Wensleydale by way of the Buttertubs Pass, down Ribblesdale with its famous viaduct, and on to Ingleton and Kirkby Lonsdale.

You can find a short extract here, filmed just outside Richmond.

The spirit of that lovely journey lives on, albeit with a slightly changed route. Now prosaically known as Dalesbus 830 and 832, the service runs every Sunday from Easter Sunday to mid-October.

From Richmond to Hawes, the route is unchanged. At Hawes, an optional connection now takes you to Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale. It's a magical journey, and one you won't forget.

Key times: depart Richmond 09:05 or 10:35; arrival back in Richmond 17:59 or 20:04. Here's a link to the timetable - we'll leave you to decipher it!

All bus fares are capped at £3 single, with £1 fares for under-19s, and concessionary bus passes are valid. Fantastic value for a fantastic day out!
