You're going to Richmond's After Dark events, aren't you? They kick off on 26 October, with a Witches and Wizards day at Richmondshire Museum, and end with a creep through the shadowy wynds and snickets of Richmond on the evening of the 31st.

Brrr!

But perhaps you can't wait til then? Perhaps your youngsters would like to meet a few friendly witches beforehand? There are some really good pre-Halloween walks taking place in woodlands around Richmond...

The Crowe's Wood Halloween Trail at Kiplin Hall (8 miles from Richmond) just gets better and better every year. Someone on the staff there has a very active imagination! Things start going 'Bump!' at Kiplin on 16 October.

Raby Castle (16 miles from Richmond) promises an adventure in the Plotters' Forest, with creepy clues to be discovered, and eerie spiders, wicked witches and creaking skeletons a-plenty. Open now.

When everyone has had enough of ghoulies and ghosties, there's plenty at all these sites to keep a family entertained: lakeside walks and playgrounds for burning off energy, and cafes for recovery.

Boo!
