Lawrence Mark Dundas, Fourth Marquess of Zetland, died at home on 24 January 2026, aged 88.

Peter Barron, writing in the Darlington and Stockton Times said:

"Mark Dundas lived at Aske Hall, a Grade II Georgian country house from the early 1990s. For someone who came from noble family lines and mixed in the highest circles, Lord Zetland was a man who had no airs and graces.

Indeed, in tributes, made following the announcement of his death, he was remembered as “a man of the people”.

Though he made his mark on the sport of horse racing nationally, he is best remembered for the impact he made at Redcar Racecourse, where he has been described as “one of the most important figures in the history of the course”.

The Memorial Service will be held at St Mary’s Church in Richmond, at 3pm on Wednesday, 15th April.
