Richmond’s much-loved Grand Annual Duck Race is set to return on Monday 5 May, with the spectacle beginning at 2pm from The Green Bridge. The event, a firm favourite on the town’s calendar, promises fun for all the family — and the chance to win some fantastic cash prizes.

Hundreds of plastic ducks will be tipped into the River Swale, creating a striking sight as they float downstream, glide over the waterfalls, and race toward the finish line at The Batts, near Station Bridge.

This highly anticipated event is one of the main fundraising efforts for the Richmond Duck Club, which supports young people in Richmond and its surrounding villages. Money is raised through ticket sales, and all proceeds go toward youth-focused community initiatives.

There’s a £400 cash prize for the winning duck, with £200 for second place, £100 for third, and a special £50 prize for the last duck home.

In the event of bad weather or unsafe river conditions, the race will be cancelled and a prize draw will take place instead at The Buck Inn at 4pm.

Whether you're cheering on your duck or just enjoying the unique spectacle, the Grand Annual Duck Race is a fantastic way to celebrate the May Day Bank Holiday in the heart of Richmond.
