Enjoy a Sunday afternoon in Mr. Yorke’s Walled Garden, with flowers, trees, art, music, cake and conviviality.

Mr Yorke's Walled Garden on Cravengate (pictured) just a few minutes' walk from Richmond's Market Place, is an 18th century walled garden, with stunning views of the Castle and Culloden Tower.

The garden was built by John Yorke, who lived in a mansion by the River Swale. The mansion was demolished in the early 19th century, and the Walled Garden became a market garden. It has been carefully restored by its existing owners and consists of shrubs, trees, lawns, herbaceous borders, roses, ponds and a vegetable garden.

Funds raised go to supporting Richmond MayFest and local charity, Just the Job, will be selling plants from their garden to support their Big Green Build projectt to improve the facilities at their Gallowfields site.

Musicians will be playing during the afternoon and Richmond Artist Judi Allinson will be painting and offering examples of her work for sale, along with handmade gifts.

Then no garden party would be complete without a serving of tea and homemade cakes, which are also on sale.

Visitors are advised that there is no parking at the garden itself.  Parking is available at Nuns Close and Yorke Square pay-and-display car parks, as well as disc parking areas in Newbiggin and the Market Place.

The garden is situated on a hill, and while main grass paths are wheelchair accessible, they are quite steep.

Admission is £6 for adults and free for accompanied children under 16.
