What's On

There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

It's time to get festive with the annual lights switch on.

Early evening events throughout the town, including the fairground in the market place, choirs singing round the Trinity tower and mulled wine and mince pies in the Market Hall from 5pm.

Gather in Friary Gardens to see the Christmas lights being switched on at 6pm (note, this is an earlier time than in previous years.)

There's a Chrristmas market at the cricket club between 6pm and 9pm. Hosted by Richmond Town Football Club's under 13s, there will be stalls, food, music and crafts. £3 entry (includes mince pie and mulled wine). Tickets from: tclarkson1@tiscali.co.uk

With thanks to Richmond Town Council, Richmond Duck Club and Richmond Round Table for their work to bring this event together, plus other volunteers shops and businesses who are contributing to the evening's events by staying open later. Please support them with your custom.
