Darker Evenings - Brighter Opportunities

You've packed away the summer clothes; put the barbie under cover; started counting the sleeps before Christmas...

Wait! Don't hibernate! Participate!

If you have a regular evening to fill...

  • Every Monday the Musicality Ladies' Choir meets at Richmond Methodist Church
  • Tuesdays? Richmond Camera Club members are clicking at Richmond Rugby Club
  • On Wednesdays, Richmond Scrabble Club meets at the Buck. All are welcome!
  • Thursday evenings, dust off the cobwebs with the Swaledale Runners, at the Outdoor Club
  • Every Friday, Richmond Folk Club meets at the Black Lion. Play, sing, or simply enjoy!
  • Saturdays - trip the light fantastic, with Sequence dancing in Colburn
  • Sunday evening, phew. You've had a busy week - chill out at the Station Cinema!

Is there a particular activity you've always wanted to try?

  • Song and dance? There are at least six choirs, and four dance groups, for all ages.
  • Sport? Richmond has everything, from bowls and croquet to triathlon
  • Wellbeing activities, perhaps? Walks, yoga, sound baths, support groups - a wide range.
  • Volunteering - there are over 35 organisations in Richmond looking for helpers.
  • Pastimes, perhaps: chess, bridge (no tiddlywinks club as far as we know)
  • Community engagement? The Fellmongers, WI, Probus, Civic Society, Rotary, Duck Club and Ladies who Lunch(1) all want to welcome you!

Honestly, for a town of fewer than 9,000 people, we have a fantastic amount going on. So get off that sofa, head down to Richmond Information Centre in the Market Hall, and pick up a copy of the new Richmond Community Directory. Or visit richmond.org/Living/Community-Groups for some inspiration.

...ooo0ooo...

(1) They're actually the 'Richmond Yorkshire Ladies Luncheon Club' - and they're a lovely bunch.
