What's On

There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

“The past is the present, isn’t it? It’s the future too. We all try to lie our way out of that, but life won’t let us.”

Summer 1912: the Tyrones gather at their coastal New England home, reunited after years apart with hopes for the future. But as day turns to night, their love and loyalty are tested as the ghosts of the past emerge, drawing them into memories they hoped to leave behind.

Celebrating its 70th anniversary of publication, Eugene O’Neill’s masterpiece of family, longing, and loss is brought to life in a powerful new production by Elysium Theatre Company, directed by Jake Murray, returning to The Georgian Theatre Royal following their hit shows The Moth and Othello.
