There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

Events and activities throughout Richmond in support of Armed Forces Day.

This is the first-ever co-ordinated day to mark this national event in Richmond.

A people's parade starting from the Town Hall at 10.30am will walk to Friary Gardens led by Newton Aycliffe Pipes and Drums.

Plans for the event include a charity village in Friary Gardens, vintage vehicles, military choirs, cinema screenings, steam engine rides, displays, FREE entry for serving personnel and their families at Richmond Castle, The Green Howards Museum and Richmondshire Museum, plus activities at The Station. There will also be a children's trail round all the event locations in the town.

Confirmed groups include: E50K project, The Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Clubs, The Vintage Vocalist, Newton Aycliffe Pipes and Drums, The Service Children's Choir, RAF Leeming Military Wives Choir, The North East Legion, The Royal Air Force Association, The Army Benevolent Fund, Help for Heroes.
