What's On

There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

The heart-warming comedy with two left feet!

RADS present a warm-hearted comedy with laughs, drama and pathos as a group of women-and one man-attempt to overcome their inhibitions and left feet in their weekly tap dancing class.

Mavis, a former professional chorus girl tries her hardest to teach the enthusiastic amateurs some performance skills for an upcoming grand charity performance.

But before the dancing begins Mavis must mediate the minor dramas that erupt among this motley but loveable crew. As the play progresses, so do the dance skills, but will they have the ability to be transformed into triumphant tappers?

Stepping Out won the Evening Standard Comedy of the Year Award in 1984.

Presented by Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society by arrangement with Samuel French, Ltd. Directed by Lynne Kerr.

Tickets cost from £7.50 to £14.50 and are available online at: www.georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01748 825252.

The show runs between 3 - 6 August.
