What's On

There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

Scott Lavene is as English as pork pies an pasties, dunked in Yorkshire tea. 2024 album “Disneyland in Dagenham” was full of Essex, East End poetry, and classic English post punk. Following extensive touring, including many sold-out shows, Scott returned in August 2025 with an album entitled Cars, Buses, Bedsits and Shops on Nothing Fancy. An album bursting with more dark humour, snapshots of squalor and cheek, and Scott’s unique love songs.
