Visit The Green Howards Museum in 2027 to explore what it means to be a soldier and the items soldiers and their families treasured.

What does a soldier mean to you? This exhibit seeks to broaden the definition of soldier to include not only the men that have fought for this country, but the women that have served with them. These women have filled countless roles, from nurses and mechanics to guards and cooks. Focusing on the stories of both men and women, this exhibit demonstrates the multitude of ways one can serve their country.

Featuring a variety of personal letters, brooches and trinkets, Soldiers and Sweethearts: Treasures that came home examines the true meaning of treasure. To many letters from the front were worth more than their weight in gold. Buttons given by a loved one could motivate a soldier to keep going despite missing home. In this exhibit, treasure focuses on the value individuals have placed onto items through emotional connections.

Exhibition opens 9th January 2027 and runs to the end of the year.

Entry to this special exhibition is included with your admission ticket.

From 9th January 2027
