What's On

There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

Little Women, adapted for the stage by Helen Cox from Louisa May Alcott’s beloved novel, follows the four March sisters - Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy - as they navigate life during the American Civil War while their father serves as a chaplain.

Under the guidance of their devoted mother, Marmee, the sisters face hardship, social expectations and the challenges of growing up. Meg dreams of wealth and status; Jo longs to write and explore; Beth finds joy in music and home; and Amy aspires to beauty and refinement. Their friendship with Laurie, his tutor John Brooke and the stern Aunt March shapes their journey from little girls to little women.
