What's On

There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

The Maladies by Carmen Nasr transports audiences to the heart of Renaissance Europe, where a mysterious dancing plague grips a community in chaos.

Inspired by true events, this haunting and poetic drama explores hysteria, faith, and the fragility of the human body and spirit.

Directed by Aimee Shields, and performed by the talented BA (Hons) Acting students at UC Leeds Performing Arts, this production breathes new life into a forgotten chapter of history with visceral energy and emotion.
