What's On

There's never a dull moment in Richmond...

There’s always something to do and somewhere to go in Richmond. With the unique Georgian Theatre Royal plus the award-winning independent cinema at The Station, drama and cinema are well taken care of, and then there’s the sparkling events programme at the Green Howards Museum, as well as Richmond Castle and the Richmondshire Museum.

The town’s many choirs and two orchestras offer up regular concerts, alongside the Richmondshire Concert Series in Spring and Autumn bringing in world-class chamber ensembles, while there’s plenty of live music at The Comrades Club and at many of the town’s great pubs. Richmond’s festivals are amazingly diverse, from the lively performance scene at MayFest to the delights of both “books and boots” at September’s Walking and Book Festival - never mind the epic Duck Race on the Swale.

Craft markets, health and wellbeing events, every kind of community group you can think of, talks, walks… you’ll always find something to enjoy.

Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society invite you to a world of magic, revenge and redemption

Stranded on a mysterious island after a shipwreck, the deposed Duke Prospero conjures storms, spirits and schemes in one of Shakespeare’s most enchanting plays. The Tempest is a tale of power and forgiveness, love and betrayal, woven with supernatural wonder and poetic brilliance. As Prospero’s plans unfold and old enemies are brought to justice, the island becomes a stage for transformation, reconciliation and new beginnings.

Featuring unforgettable characters like the wild spirit Ariel and the cunning Caliban, The Tempest blends comedy, drama and romance in a spellbinding story that still captivates audiences today. Step into the storm — and discover a world where magic meets humanity.

This is Shakespeare at his most imaginative. Don’t miss it.
